Yabao è un tè bianco o un tè pu erh?
Il tè Yabao richiede una lavorazione minima poiché viene raccolto solo a mano e poi essiccato al sole. Poiché il suo metodo di produzione è simile alla maggior parte dei tè bianchi, viene generalmente classificato anche come tè bianco. Anche il gusto ricorda per lo più quello di un tè bianco morbido e di aroma floreale. Alcuni bevitori di tè considerano Yabao un tè pu erh crudo, perché puoi invecchiare il tè Yabao come un pu erh.
Infine, si potrebbe dire che Yabao non è né un té bianco né un té pu erh. A differenza però delle gemme degli altri tè bianchi, quelle dello Ya Bao darebbero vita a nuovi tronchi della pianta piuttosto che a nuove foglie e germogli.
Indipendentemente dalla sua classificazione, Yabao è un tè unico poiché è ottenuto dai germogli di un albero del tè, non da foglie e germogli.

Western method
Infuse 4 grams of Yabao white tea with 500 ml water at a temperature of 100ºC and steep for 3 minutes. For a second steep increase the steeping time to 5 minutes
Traditional method
Infuse 5 grams of Yabao tea with 100ml water at 100ºC and steep for 30 seconds. Increase the steeping time by 5 seconds for every next steep.
Cold-brewing
For cold-brewing you may use a bottle, jug, teapot or any brewing vessel that has a lid. Use 8 grams of Yabao tea per 500ml of cold water. Cover the brewing vessel with a lid, and store in the fridge for 8-10 hours.

this tea is so complex, rich, naturally sweet a bit mineral and earthy, reminding me of the flavor of a purple sweet potato with the skin, sweet in flavor but you can still taste the earth from where it has been dug up. this duplicity creates a perfect balance. in addition the buds of this tea are so beautiful too look at while the tea is steeping.

I bought a sample of this tea and i love it it has a bit of rose and citrus in it. If you you like floral tea and i guess rose then you will like this tea.
The tea smells a little strange for me and it also tastes strange. Maybe I’m simply not quite used to the flavor. Anyway, I won’t buy this sort of tea again.

A delicious and fruity tea with a bright cup. Very different taste refering to other white teas; with a high recognition factor.
A peculiar tea which in my opinion everybody should try at least once, just because it is vastly different from 'regular' teas. The dry buds smells pleasently of dry sweet herbs, 'tea', grass, hay, citrus and dried flowers. All of these notes expands greatly after the first brew in the gaiwan and bergamot, dill, flowers, roses and rosehib is revealing itself. The liquid is rounded, slightly oily, with a pleasant aftertaste and no bitter notes what so ever. I would put it between a green and a white tea, but more the latter. A real summer's tea.

Warmed-up dry leaves smell like dill and green beans. When wet, floral notes appear, along with a chicken broth umami.
The liquor is bright, with grass and flowers on top of that chicken broth base.
This is such a lovely and aromatic tea. Floral, and a hint of honey to me, but not like a tisane. I also like the structure of the liquid. It is one of the few teas I drink summer and winter, as it seems to blend in with both, being light in Summer and comforting in Wintertime.

Il tè viene poi degustato in un padiglione e trasportato da cavalli lungo “L’Antica Via del Tè e dei Cavalli” .
