Un autentico tè oolong Tie Guan Yin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) proviene dalla città di Anxi, Fujian. Questo tè oolong leggero presenta una consistenza densa e un aroma morbido, vegetale e floreale.

Il suo nome deve alla leggenda in cui la Dea della Misericordia regalò la pianta del tè a un povero contadino. Lui lo piantò nel suo giardino e con esso coltivò il tè più pregiato. La parola "ferro" all'interno del suo nome si riferisce al fatto che questo tè viene arrotolato in palline strette e, quando viene lasciato cadere in una teiera, sentirai un suono simile alla caduta di piccoli pezzi di ferro.

A causa della sua difficile pronuncia, questo tè viene spesso chiamato anche TGY. In alcuni dialetti cinesi è anche scritto come Ti Kuan Yin.

Come preparare questo tè

Western method

Infuse 3 grams of Tie Guan Yin oolong tea with 500 ml water at a temperature of 100ºC and steep for 1 minutes. For a second steep increase the steeping time to 4 minutes

Traditional method

Infuse 5 grams of Tie Guan Yin with 100ml water at 100ºC and steep for 30 seconds. For the second steep, apply a 15 second steeping time. Increase the steeping time by 5 seconds for every next steep.

Cold-brewing

For cold-brewing you may use a bottle, jug, teapot or any brewing vessel that has a lid. Use 8 grams of Tie Guan Yin tea per 500ml of cold water. Cover the brewing vessel with a lid, and store in the fridge for 5-8 hours.

Okayish for the price, but I prefer better TGY

Cheap Tie Guan Yin (TGY) is often mediocre and straightforward, yet easy to drink. This TGY is no exception. TGY can be much more complex and still be pretty affordable (especially compared to other oolongs). Hope that Teasenz will include a more interesting premium TGY option in the future.

When sourcing this Tie Guan Yin our intention was to curate one that's very representative of a traditional TGY and one that is loved by a wide audience. We don't agree that it is 'cheap', but rather one that offers good value for money. We do agree with you that we can explore the TGY space much more, and offer different styles of TGY as we do for other oolong teas such as Dancongs. It's something we'll definitely work on in the future!

The most parfumed oolong that I tasted so far, I love every oolong but this one really reminds me of Taiwan great flower perfumed teas ( as a natural tea parfume, no flowers in this). I really love it, keep on buying it on kilos and I’m glad I can drink it every day…a day without tea is worst than a day with no rice

Il nostro lavoro di design si ispira all'opera d'arte "Lungo il Fiume Durante il Festival Qingming" attribuito all'artista Zhang Zeduan vissuto durante la dinastia Song. Tuttavia, invece di mostrare la vita quotidiana delle persone nella capitale cinese (come nell’opera originale), con questo design raffiuguriamo gli agricoltori intenti nelle fasi di produzione del tè attraverso la stessa prospettiva a volo d’uccello.

Esaminando in dettaglio il design del nostro packaging, gli appassionati di tè osserveranno il processo di preparazione del tè: i coltivatori raccolgono, essiccano, arrotolano e cuociono le foglie di tè. Il tè viene poi degustato in un padiglione e trasportato da cavalli lungo “L’Antica Via del Tè e dei Cavalli” .

Il paesaggio tradizionale cinese e il tema della produzione del tè simboleggiano il patrimonio, la tradizione e il rispetto per il duro lavoro dei coltivatori del tè.
