This extraordinary ancient raw Pu Erh comes directly from Walong Village in Manzhuan. It's classified one of the Six Famous Mountains, and the hometown of our native Yunnan tea expert, Cao Yan Mei. As tea curator behind all our signature Teasenz label tea cakes, Yan Mei knows world-class leaf when she tastes it. This batch is so incredibly delicious, vibrant, and complex that she simply couldn't leave it behind.

This tea is harvested from wild trees aged between 50 and 60 years. Because there is only 10kg of it available, the batch was simply too small for a factory to set up their pressing machinery. We faced a choice: leave it behind, or bring it to you exactly as it is. We chose the latter. Offered as a loose-leaf raw Pu Erh, it is straightforward enough for adventurous beginners to brew effortlessly, yet possesses the depth and complexity that seasoned connoisseurs look for. Here are our tasting notes:

  • The Aroma: A wonderful, multi-layered bouquet. The first steeps releases a wave of fresh, vibrant fruit and delicate florals, which then settles into a deep, comforting honeyed sweetness that lingers in the empty cup.
  • The Liquor: It pours a beautifully dense, golden yellow-orange. The clarity is striking, catching the light with a thick, viscous appearance that hints at the texture to come.
  • The Texture: Exceptionally smooth and oily. This tea possesses a rich, heavy viscosity that luxuriously coats the mouth and throat, leaving a clean, velvety finish.
  • Steeping Endurance: This tea easily sustains 15 or more infusions. Even after the aromas begin to fade, the leaves continue to give the water a thick, smooth texture that makes you want to keep steeping.
  • Leaf Appearance: Once infused, the wet leaves reveal their natural strength. They remain sturdy and whole, with an average size ranging from 5 to 9 cm.

The Energy: Mind-Uplifting Cha Qi

A friendly warning: Clear your schedule before sitting down with this one. You are very likely to get beautifully "tea drunk."

The Cha Qi (tea energy) of this Manzhuan ancient growth leaf is nothing short of incredible. Almost immediately, you’ll feel a powerful mental uplift and cognitive clarity that cuts through the noise of the day. As the sessions progress, a profound physical sensation takes over: it deeply cools the body from the inside out, dissipating internal heat and inducing a light, purifying sweat across your back. It’s an immersive, full-body experience that stays with you long after the tea session.

Because this is a loose leaf Sheng pu erh tea, it responds beautifully and instantly to Gongfu brewing. Use flash-steeps in a gaiwan with boiling water to watch the complex flavor profile unfold steep after steep. Don't miss your chance to taste Yan Mei's hometown pride, once these 10 kilograms are gone, they are gone for good.
