too balanced

This is a weird one. (7 g mini cake) Low astringency, no smoke, low fermentation. There is nothing that could be bad about this tea and somehow this is why it lacks character. I could see what they were going for - the mouthfeel is more on the back and the throat not on the tongue, and it develops well with continuous flushes. Seems to me a like a sheng that's as close to green tea as possible. I think it's a good tea for a particular drinker, but I'd like a bit more astringency to be honest. The fresh sheng that worked for me instead was velvet mountain.

Hello, thank you for sharing such detailed thoughts. We really appreciate your feedback!

You’re right, this tea is part of Oripuerlab’s more entry-level series. It was intended to have a gentler profile, with a softer overall character, making it suitable for people who are newer to pu-erh or simply prefer a milder style.

But we can also understand how, for someone looking for more intensity and structure, it may come across as a little too balanced. For sure, Velvet Mountain delivers more bitterness and young sheng character, and we are really glad you like it!

But I did try several guides and it wasn't anything special.

The coin opens nicely in the gaiwan. Inital smell is deeply sweet with floral and certain 'animalic qualities to it'. I can brew this tea easily for 7 and more brews. Taste, like aroma is floral and fruity, with a oily texture. Later brews give more astringency and minerality in a enjoyable fashion. I am happy with this tea!
