Il est rare de rencontrer un pu-erh cuit comme celui-ci, avec une texture incroyablement riche et collante. Bien que son épaisseur soit modérée, cette onctuosité qui enrobe entièrement le palais est, selon nous, tout simplement impressionnante. Rien que cette caractéristique en fait l'une de nos galettes de pu erh cuit préférées de la région des Dai, au Xishuangbanna, dans le Yunnan.

Cette galette est élaborée à partir d'un mélange raffiné de feuilles et de bourgeons dorés, soigneusement transformés en thé brut (mao cha) puis post-fermentés avec douceur pour obtenir une saveur équilibrée. Les galettes sont compressées légèrement, ce qui permet de les séparer facilement, même à la main si un couteau à thé n'est pas disponible.

La saveur est délicieusement réconfortante, avec des notes sucrées de dattes et de caramel. Au fil des infusions, des nuances subtiles de riz et de menthe apparaissent, ajoutant de la complexité à votre session de gongfu. Ce n'est pas un pu-erh cuit trop fermenté ou trop robuste, mais plutôt un thé à l'élegante terreur, sans aucune fumée ni épices prononcées.

Bien que nous recommandions de commencer par une infusion à température maximale, ce pu-erh cuit se prête également très bien à des infusions à basse température (80-90°C), en compensant par un temps d'infusion plus long. Son endurance est remarquable, ne commençant à s'adoucir qu'après 8 infusions. Les mêmes feuilles peuvent facilement donner jusqu'à 14 infusions.

Nous n'avons pu obtenir que 28 galettes de ce thé, et une fois épuisées, elles ne seront pas réapprovisionnées. Nous vous recommandons donc de commander d'abord un échantillon ou une seule galette, puis de faire des réserves si ce pu-erh cuit vous convient.

How to make Bai Fu 'Hundred Blessings' ripe pu erh tea?

There are two methods to prepare this pu erh tea cake:

Gongfu method

Brew 5 gram with 100 ml of water at 100°C. Steep for 10 seconds for the first few infusions. Afterward, gradually increase the steeping time.

Western method

Steep 3 gram with 500 ml of water at 100 °C. Apply a brewing time of 1.5 minutes and add 1 minute for each next infusion.

A bit messy but quite good, if...

Although it sounds promising, and the fact that it is from a smaller branch of the Menghai tea manufactury heightened my expectations, it is not from high quality. The taste is quite well, a bit smoky and earthy, what I like, but from the first brewing a lot of junk is noticable and almost disturbing the harmony of the tea. This could be very good, if harvested and selected with more care, leaving out all those branches, overmatured leafparts or leafestalks. It would be maybe ok for half of the price, then this all would be about to expected. Nevertheless, it is OK and I absolutely love drinking Pu Erh so I will honor this by drinking it, which means removing all the items swimming in top carefully and adding a bit more fresh tea after every 3-4 brewings, but that may be my style only 🙏!

The taste of Tea resembles the taste of Zen/Dao. No words could possibly describe it. You have to taste in on your own to get the feeling of it. For this particular - realy unique, rare and fantastic Pu Erh tea the proper description perhaps hides in it's name : "Hundred blessings". True. Hundred blessings to your palate and spirit. As it won't be restocked, don't hesitate!
