Warmed-up dry leaves smell of leather, chocolate, cherries and delicate spices. When wet, they turn into exotic woods.
The liquor tastes of cherries, redcurrant, fancy wood and warm spices. There are aromatic layers in there, waiting to be explored.
This was the first black tea I fell in love with, back in February 2023. Before that, I thought the whole category lacks complexity and depth. Persistence was very rewarding.
A enjoyable yunnan style dian-hong tea. I would recommend it.
The leaves on the cake look just beautiful. I almost didnât want to break it! Just by smelling the dry leaves you can tell this is a high quality Hong Cha, careful and skillfully made.
This is a tea I like to drink slowly in order to enjoy all the complex layers it has. The first infusions remind me of childhood: running thru humid forests and the smell of the rain poring down the fresh soil. The florals mingle perfectly with Chinese dry plumb aroma.
The astringency in the mouth feels lovely, not harsh, just velvety. Light malt notes, floral and sweet aroma of glazed donuts.
Towards the end of the session, there is a lovely lingering aroma in your cup that will remind you of honeyed candy. TEASENZ: Hello Alain, thank you so much for this wonderful review, this means a lot to us.
Best black tea in cake form I ever had. Savoury sweet, fruity, honeyish, with slight hints of smokiness. Aroma is complex and also strong, as I can smell it clearly at the bottom of my cup. I used 6 grams with 10 seconds for first steep and afterwards many instant steeps as the tea releases aroma very fast. Good tea, but need to keep steeping time short when gongfu tea brewing.
Unlike most black tea cakes I've tried, this one really stands out. It sweet, fruity, smooth and last many steeps. Unlike many sundried blacks its not smokey, which i love. But for those looking for a stronger and smokey tea, this one is probably not the best choice. Can't wait to experience how this tea ages over time.
