This raw pu erh cake is a true testament to Yiwu tea region. 13 Menghai tea masters collaborated for over 5 years, and after 382 blending attempts, they've achieved the perfect 'Yiwu aroma'. Whether you are new to pu erh or an old acquaintance, this unique raw pu erh tea will surely surprise you.

Rich and complex aroma

The tea leaves of Yiwu Wuzhai tea cake exhibit a "rich gold" colour, showcasing thick buds and shiny hair. The brewed tea has a rich, intense honey-yellow hue and a persistent aroma that fills the mouth and throat.

This tea is full-bodied with a savoury, floral, woody, and tobacco aroma profile. The after taste is sweet with hints of liquorice, and the minimal astringency makes it very forgiving when its preparation. We believe tea lovers who smoke or prefer stronger steeps will particularly love this tea.

Lingering aftertaste

This Yiwu tea offers excellent endurance lasting many steeps, and even in the later steeps the sweet and rich aroma remain, offering a complex and smooth flavour. The tea's sweetness intensifies with each brew, and the strong Cha Qi  (tea energy) affects the body. Each sip is addicting, with a mellow yet firm flavour profile and a long-lasting aftertaste.

5 Village tea blend

Yiwu Wuzhai means the '5 villages of Yiwu', as this cake is a blend of leaves harvested from 5 different Yiwu villages. Each tea blended into this cake has unique characteristics, offering the real taste of Yiwu pu erh tea: Mahei village's tea is dense and delicate, with a long aftertaste; Luo Shui Dong village's features orchid fragrance and sweetness; Wagong village's tea leaves are mellow and fresh with a honey-sweet fragrance; Manson village's tea is complex and intense, and Gua feng village's tea is mellow and sweet honey-honey.

Our design work is inspired by the artwork “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” by the Zhang Zeduan in the Song Dynasty. Instead of displaying the daily lives of people in the capital of China (as the original artwork), we display the tea making process of farmers through the same bird’s eye perspective.

When examining our packaging design in detail, tea enthusiasts will observe the tea making process, featuring tea farmers picking, drying, rolling, and frying tea leaves. The tea is then tasted in a pavilion and transported by horses along the ‘ancient tea road’.

Together, the traditional Chinese landscape and tea making theme, symbolise heritage, tradition, and respect for hard work of tea farmers.
