A carefully curated selection of 6 rock teas (yancha) from 6 different tea gardens in Wuyishan. This tea sampler includes 3x8g packages of each tea, and is highly recommended for those seeking to experience the essence of authentic and high quality oolong tea from the Fujian province.
All teas feature a robust mineral and roasted aroma that is unique to the Wuyishan region. They allows you to gain an overall impression Fujian oolong teas and discover the nuances in the flavour of each type of rock tea.
Our tasting notes
- Da Hong Pao (Red Robe): the classic medium roasted mineral flavour of Wuyi rock tea.
- Qi Lan (Miracle Orchid): a lighter roast rock tea with beautiful nuances of honey and orchid flowers. It somewhat reminds us of a Mi Lan Xiang Dancong oolong tea.
- Huang Mei Gui (Yellow Rose): a light roast oolong with beautiful aromatic nuances of roses and nuts. The rosy aroma is particularly present in the after taste.
- Shui Xian (Water Sprite): a light-medium roast oolong with a green floral aromatic characters with a well-balanced astringency.
- Rou Gui (Cinnamon): a medium roast rock tea with hints of spices and cinnamon, which gradually transforms in a minty after taste.
- Bei Dou (Northern Dipper): a smooth and complex Rock tea with an aroma palette of fruits, nuts, spices and herbal jelly.
Premium 'Banyan' grade
All 6 teas are from tea gardens located in the vicinity of the scenic area, and are hence classified as 'Ban Yan' grade, which is just one grade below the extremely expensive 'Zheng Yan' grade of oolong teas, harvested inside the scenic region.

As a long-time lover of fresh green teas, I approached this Wuyi Rock Tea sampler with curiosity, especially after tasting some Dan Cong and Da Hong Pao. What surprised me most is how accessible these rock oolongs are, even for someone used to greener profiles: they open with a gentle minerality, never aggressive, and develop into layered notes of flowers, vanilla, butter, and a light roast that never hides the natural sweetness.
Da Hong Pao stands out with its round, buttery finish and that subtle floral-vanilla note I had already noticed in my tasting, while the other samples unfold shades of honeyed orchid, dried fruit, or light spice. Compared to Dan Cong, these Yan Cha are more stable, less pungent, more balanced, with a deeper minerality that reveals itself infusion after infusion.
In short: a perfect introduction to the world of Wuyi oolongs for someone coming from green teas — complex but not difficult, aromatic without excess, and able to offer an elegant, surprisingly smooth “rocky” profile through many steeps.
good value for the money. Nice to get an idea for the yancha types. Dont expect crazy quality for that price. But it is a very good deal

Love this. This sampler is great. Several great varieties in this and in the perfect bag size for my rock clay gaiwan. Each works out to be a single fill for the gaiwan. Great flavors. Good quality.
The teas were beautifully packaged, and this format is also great for getting to know the culture of tea drinking better. I bought one box for myself and one for my friend as a gift. Both are happy with the product.
Didn’t try them all yet, but the ones I’ve tasted are great: clean mineral character, pleasant roast, and nice depth across steeps. Nicely packed in small sealed bags. Perfect to gift or sample one by one.
Mir hat das Set sehr gut gefallen. Ich mochte die Oolongs wirklich – alles außer dem Gelben und dem Shui Xian wirkte etwas wässrig. Insgesamt aber ein wirklich gutes Probier-Set, um in die reiche Geschmacksvielfalt der Felsen-Oolongs einzutauchen.
Vielleicht täusche ich mich beim Gelben Tee oder beim Shui Xian. Jetzt, wo ich das passende Teegeschirr habe, genieße ich besonders Sorten wie Rou Gui, Bei Dou oder Xie Lan – aber auch die anderen sind gut. Ein großes Plus von mir!
Product is well packaged, I like the teas very much. Each variant has a very expressive flavor that is very representative of the variety. I especially like the Rou Gui, which has smoky and cinamonny notes.
Our design work is inspired by the artwork “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” by the Zhang Zeduan in the Song Dynasty. Instead of displaying the daily lives of people in the capital of China (as the original artwork), we display the tea making process of farmers through the same bird’s eye perspective.
When examining our packaging design in detail, tea enthusiasts will observe the tea making process, featuring tea farmers picking, drying, rolling, and frying tea leaves. The tea is then tasted in a pavilion and transported by horses along the ‘ancient tea road’.
Together, the traditional Chinese landscape and tea making theme, symbolise heritage, tradition, and respect for hard work of tea farmers.
