Small Shuiping Yixing Teapot, Red Jiangpo Clay 140ml

This 140ml Shuiping teapot is made for dedicated tea drinkers and collectors. Handmade by Yixing-certified artist Jiang Wei, it combines the classic Shuiping shape with a rare, mineral-rich clay from 1990s.

Red Jiangpo Clay

Red Jiangpo is a natural symbiotic mineral excavated from the junction of Huanglong and Qinglong Mountains. It is a distinct variety of Zisha composed of red clay, Duan clay, and a small amount of purple clay. The fired clay exhibits a warm red hue and a delicate, “pear-skin” texture. It is highly reactive to tea oils, quickly developing a jade-like patina and a deep antique charm through regular use. 

Classic Shuiping Shape

The classic Shuiping or 'Level Water' shape is valued for its simple, elegant look and balanced design. The spout and handle are carefully made for even weight, and in traditional tests, the teapot floats level on water to show its perfect balance.

The Artist

This teapot was made by Jiang Wei, a respected National Assistant Arts and Crafts Master and a leading figure in China’s modern ceramics. He is a member of the Jiangsu Ceramics Association and the China Arts and Crafts Society. Coming from a well-known family of Yixing Zisha potters, Jiang Wei has spent his life learning the craft, giving him a deep understanding of clay and form.

Jiang Wei is known for combining traditional techniques with modern ideas. A multi-award-winning artist, he has received multiple Gold Awards, including from the National Ceramic Art Design Innovation Competition and the China International Tea Expo. His mastery allows him to create complex shapes and smooth lines, and his teapots stand out for their practicality as well as their collectible value.
