Direct from Yunnan, this premium loose leaf ripe pu erh tea is the perfect choice for starting your journey into the realms of pu erh. Drink it pure to enjoy its smooth flavour, or use it to create your own signature blends.

Why Choose Loose-Leaf Pu Erh Tea?

Pu erh tea is traditionally sold in compressed forms, such as bings (cakes) or tuos (domes). This makes sense, as both shou and sheng pu erh teas benefit from aging, often requiring years of storage to develop their full flavour. Compression aids easy storage during this aging process. However, loose-leaf pu erh tea continues to be highly sought after for several reasons:

  • Ready-to-Drink Convenience: Some tea enthusiasts prefer to purchase pu erh when it’s ready to enjoy, rather than waiting years for it to age. In such cases, the benefits of compression become less relevant, as there’s no need to stockpile for extended storage.
  • Transparency in Quality: Loose-leaf pu erh offers greater transparency in quality. With compressed cakes, there’s a risk of dishonest sellers hiding low-grade leaves in the center, while showcasing higher-grade leaves on the surface. Loose tea eliminates this concern.
  • Faster Aging Process: Loose-leaf pu erh ages more quickly than compressed alternatives since all the leaves are exposed to oxygen, accelerating the development of its rich flavor profile.

The Ideal Choice for Restaurants

In practice, loose leaf pu erh tea is a favorite among restaurants, hotels, and other food service businesses. Loose tea is not only easier to serve, but it also eliminates the need for specialized tools, such as a tea knife, to break apart compressed cakes. Additionally, restaurants and food businesses typically don’t require large amounts of tea for long-term storage, making loose-leaf pu erh a more practical option for their needs.

Whether you’re crafting a signature tea blend or serving premium tea to your guests, loose-leaf pu erh offers both convenience and quality without compromise.

Our design work is inspired by the artwork “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” by the Zhang Zeduan in the Song Dynasty. Instead of displaying the daily lives of people in the capital of China (as the original artwork), we display the tea making process of farmers through the same bird’s eye perspective.

When examining our packaging design in detail, tea enthusiasts will observe the tea making process, featuring tea farmers picking, drying, rolling, and frying tea leaves. The tea is then tasted in a pavilion and transported by horses along the ‘ancient tea road’.

Together, the traditional Chinese landscape and tea making theme, symbolise heritage, tradition, and respect for hard work of tea farmers.
