500 grams of delicious Liu Bao tea, packed in kraft paper inside a basket. It offers a complex earthy and forestry aroma palette with subtle hints of oriental spices and nuts. The aftertaste is creamy, remarkably sweet and lingers for hours in the mouth.
Liu Bao dark tea originates from Zhuang minority region in Guangxi. It’s located in the Southern part of China, bordering Vietnam at a 1500m elevation, far away from any form of pollution. It’s mild climate with an average temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and about 1500 mm annual rainfall makes it optimal for growing tea.
When you store this tea in its original packaging it will continue to age and improve its aroma over time. Make sure to store dark, dry, and avoid direct sunlight.

How to make Liu Bao tea?
There are two methods to prepare this pu erh tea cake:
Gongfu brewing
Brew 5 gram with 100 ml of water at 100 °C. Steep for 5-10 seconds for the first 3 infusions. Afterwards, gradually increase the steeping time
Western brewing
Steep 3 gram with 500 ml of water at 100 °C. Apply a brewing time of 2 minutes and add 1 minutes for each next infusion.

The tea actually comes in a basket in a paper bag. It has earthy aroma with texture. It allows for 3 infusions if you do European style brewing which is very good. This way you actually get 3 different versions of the same tea and they are all a very good experience. It keeps a comparatively dark color after each infusion and has fine layers of taste. If you do gongfu style brewing, you have to be mindful of the amount of tea you put in the gaiwan and watch the color. Since it is loose tea, It gets very dark very quickly, as it is a very dark tea, indeed. I would call it a very luxurious tea to start a day with.

The liquor is very woody and a bit spicy. It's a smooth, clear and comforting taste - the kind that predisposes to philosophical musings, literature or just digesting a good meal.
Our design work is inspired by the artwork “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” by the Zhang Zeduan in the Song Dynasty. Instead of displaying the daily lives of people in the capital of China (as the original artwork), we display the tea making process of farmers through the same bird’s eye perspective.
When examining our packaging design in detail, tea enthusiasts will observe the tea making process, featuring tea farmers picking, drying, rolling, and frying tea leaves. The tea is then tasted in a pavilion and transported by horses along the ‘ancient tea road’.
Together, the traditional Chinese landscape and tea making theme, symbolise heritage, tradition, and respect for hard work of tea farmers.
