Dou Qing Clay Yixing Bamboo Gourd Teapot & 2 Cups 270ml

A Dou Qing Yixing teapot accompanied with 2 cups, handcrafted by certified Yixing artist Wu Ronghua. The bamboo elements on the spout, handle, lid knob and body of this Gourd (Hu Lu) shaped teapot are all made of purple clay (Zi Ni) using a fine appliqué technique. The gift box includes a certificate of authenticity from the artist.

Appliqué (tie hua) is a traditional decorative technique used in Zisha teapots, predominantly applied to the body, lid, handle, and neck. This technique involves using either the same or different clay materials to create flowers, leaves and other patterns. The components are shaped with precision tools and bonded to the teapot with clay paste.

Douqing Ni Clay: Douqing Ni (Bean Green Clay) is a rare type of clay blended from a variety of original ore from Huanglong Mountain. Teapots made from Douqing Ni clay maximise the flavour of the tea and are ideal for brewing Oolong teas such as Tieguanyin and Da Hong Pao.
