This rare 'Bian Chen'-shaped teapot has a 9-hole filter in the spout and is handmade by certified Yixing artist Xu Yaowen. It is crafted from authentic Di Cao Qing Zi Ni clay, which features excellent breathability. With a finer texture than ordinary Zi Ni clay, it's regarded by zisha artists as the best kind of purple clay one can find.

Bian Chen shape is extremely difficult to make and requires years of experience. As the saying goes: "If the body of the pot is a little flatter, it is 3 times harder to make." Bian Chen teapots are a great test of the teapot maker's basic skills and control of the clay, so they are rarely seen on the market.

The flat shape of the Bian Chen teapot is derived from the drinking vessels of China's "Spring and Autumn" period and the "Warring States" period. This classic Bian Chen teapot has a unique artistic charm: the large opening and wide belly allow the tea leaves to unfold beautifully and allow for an optimal infusion.
