Bai Mu Dan (White Peony) White Tea
Bai Mu Dan (White Peony) White Tea
An outstanding white tea from Fujian province with sweet green taste without any bitterness or astringency. The texture is silky smooth with white floral fragrance of roses, ylang ylang, and magnolia. The lingering aftertaste is refreshing with hints of citrus and cucumber.
Bai Mu Dan & White Tea Grades
Bai Mu Dan literally means 'White Peony' and the raw tea leaves used for this tea, belongs to the second highest white tea grade, right after silver needle (highest grade). Our White Peony tea consists of a blend of fine downy buds and small tea leaves, which together offer a perfectly balanced flavour and aroma profile.
The quality grades below Bai Mu Dan are Gong Mei and Shou Mei, made from larger and sometimes broken tea leaves. That said, tea leaf grade doesn't always guarantee in a better tea. In fact, Gong Mei and Shou Mei can be excellent teas if well-processed, and tend to have a richer, more fruity and herbaceous aroma. In contrast, Silver Needle and Bai Mu Dan tend to have a fresher and more floral aroma profile.

Our design work is inspired by the artwork “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” by the Zhang Zeduan in the Song Dynasty. Instead of displaying the daily lives of people in the capital of China (as the original artwork), we display the tea making process of farmers through the same bird’s eye perspective.
When examining our packaging design in detail, tea enthusiasts will observe the tea making process, featuring tea farmers picking, drying, rolling, and frying tea leaves. The tea is then tasted in a pavilion and transported by horses along the ‘ancient tea road’.
Together, the traditional Chinese landscape and tea making theme, symbolise heritage, tradition, and respect for hard work of tea farmers.
