An unique green tea made by local farmers of Liu An village in Anhui. The leaves of this tea are hand-picked in early Spring and fried over low heat, resulting in the beautiful curly shape, resembling melon seeds.

Our Liu An Gua Pian is a savoury sweet green tea with an intense and invigorating flavour. Don't be fooled by its deep dark green tea leaves. When infused in hot water, the wet leaves will reveal their vibrant and fresh green colour.

Brewing: 5g/100ml, 80°C, 10s, +5s.

Warmed-up dry leaves smell of grilled zucchini, flowers, hay and pumpkin seeds. When wet, camphor notes appear.

The liquor tastes of leafy green vegetables and roasted pumpkin seeds, with a satisfying umami aftertaste.

It starts as a bright and cheerful tea, nicely anchored by a heavier proteic background. Later steeps reveal some surprising complexity, in the chlorophyll-nuttiness interplay, and exploring that is a lot of fun.

Well played, green tea! Well played!

Having tried most of the green teas on here, I can safely say this one is my favorite. It has a wonderful sweet taste with a significant seaweed type character. It has very little astringency and the flavour holds up after a dozen steeps.

The leaves have an amazingly intense green colour as well, ahixh are beautiful to look at.

Our design work is inspired by the artwork “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” by the Zhang Zeduan in the Song Dynasty. Instead of displaying the daily lives of people in the capital of China (as the original artwork), we display the tea making process of farmers through the same bird’s eye perspective.

When examining our packaging design in detail, tea enthusiasts will observe the tea making process, featuring tea farmers picking, drying, rolling, and frying tea leaves. The tea is then tasted in a pavilion and transported by horses along the ‘ancient tea road’.

Together, the traditional Chinese landscape and tea making theme, symbolise heritage, tradition, and respect for hard work of tea farmers.
