My favourite black tea so far. In this moment, mon-fri I drink yunnan gold, sat-sun I drink this tea, because it requires a hotter water, so I spend more time to prepare and let it cool before drink it.
I really liked how balanced is this tea and how it evolves. In particular, I enjoyed the hybrid black tea and ripe pu erh taste and the subtle spicy taste. Super recommended: I'll definitely buy the full cake.

2024 Amber Sunrise Sun-Dried Black Tea in 7g mini cake format offers a smooth and well-rounded black tea experience. The aroma carries warm honeyed and fruity notes with a hint of dried fruits. The liquor is clear, rich, and amber-colored. The taste is clean and lightly sweet, without sharp astringency, followed by a comforting, warming aftertaste. The convenient mini cake format makes it suitable both for tea sessions and everyday brewing.
Incredible sun-dried tea, with strong initial fruity notes of figs and raisins, a touch of wood, leading to a floral and honeyed aftertaste. Spices and a very subtle toasty note emerge. A smooth and sweet flavor. A great tea to enjoy in the morning or even in the afternoon; it will remind you of a beautiful sunny spring day, almost the beginning of summer. Highly recommended. The packaging design is also a very nice touch. Negative point: Why didn't I buy a whole cake? (My own answer: because I couldn't fit any more tea in my pantry).

If you have doubts about purchasing these minicakes, i'm telling you this is one of the best pu'erh i've ever tried.
We’re glad you’re enjoying it! This tea is indeed a lovely bridge between pu erh and black teas because it’s processed like pu erh but uses black tea leaves. That’s what makes it special, with a delightful taste and aroma.
I wasn't sure about this tea at first but the taste is very interesting. The fact that it's a pressed coin makes my brain automatically think "pu erh" even though I know it's a black (red) tea so the actual taste is a surprise. Very mild and subtle but still defined. I use a whole mini coin for a small to medium gaiwan because when I tried it for the first time with just half a coin the flavor felt a bit weak for my taste. I'd like to experiment a bit more with this one and just ordered a whole big cake of it. And I have to mention the artwork on the wrapping paper which is just beautiful.

The tea is smooth and easy to drink. It has a medium thick body with a sweet and floral taste. I will leave it to age in its beautiful wrapper to see the change.
A bit bland to be fair and a regular Lapsang souchong would be intriguing, but Amber Sunrise could appeal to the less adventurous or days of such.

Sun-dried, aged black teas and normal black teas like Lapsang Souchong, Jin Jun Mei, Lichuan etc are intrinsically different.
With normal Chinese black teas, the aroma is intense and very direct, and the taste is more accessible. I'm not sure if you're comparing to our Lapsang Souchong, which is very intense in aroma and sweet. If that's the kind of tea you prefer, then indeed Amber Sunrise might not be right for you.
With a sun-dried black tea, first of all the texture thicker, and resembling somewhat like a ripe pu erh. The aging of the tea results in a more nuanced sweetness, but taste wise, if steeped right, there's a lot of complexity to discover, such as fruity, woody, herbal, and spice notes. So, we actually think this would be an adventurous tea for regular black tea drinkers.
By the way, the optimal drinking age is around 3-4 years for sun-dried black tea, so you will see more flavours develop. If you still have some left, we’d encourage you to let it age for a year and revisit. It might surprise you! One more thing, try to cold brew it, we love this tea cold brewed too.

Unsere Designarbeit ist inspiriert von dem Kunstwerk „Entlang des Flusses während des Qingming-Festes“ von Zhang Zeduan aus der Song-Dynastie. Anstatt das tägliche Leben der Menschen in der Hauptstadt Chinas darzustellen (wie im Originalkunstwerk), zeigen wir den Teemachprozess der Bauern aus derselben Vogelperspektive.
Bei genauer Betrachtung unseres Verpackungsdesigns werden Teeliebhaber den Teezubereitungsprozess beobachten, bei dem Teebauern Teeblätter pflücken, trocknen, rollen und braten. Der Tee wird dann in einem Pavillon verkostet und auf dem "alten Teeweg" mit Pferden transportiert.
Zusammen symbolisieren das traditionelle chinesische Landschaftsbild und das Thema der Teezubereitung Erbe, Tradition und Respekt vor der harten Arbeit der Teebauern.
