Det är sällsynt att stöta på ett moget pu-erh-te som detta, med dess otroligt rika, klibbiga textur. Även om tjockleken är måttlig, skulle vi beskriva denna klibbighet som helt galen, eftersom den helt täcker din gom. Just denna egenskap gör det till en av våra favoritmogna pu-erh-tekakor från Dai-minoriteten i Xishuangbanna, Yunnan.

Te-kakan är tillverkad av en förfinad blandning av teblad och gyllene knoppar, noggrant bearbetade till löst te (mao cha) och varsamt efterjästa för att uppnå en balanserad smak. Kakorna är löst pressade, vilket gör att du enkelt kan bryta isär dem, även med händerna om en tekkniv inte finns tillgänglig.

Smaken är underbart tröstande, med söta toner av dadlar och karamell. När du fortsätter att dra framkommer subtila inslag av ris och mynta, vilket tillför komplexitet till din gongfu-bryggning. Detta är inte en kraftigt fermenterad eller alltför robust mogen pu erh; istället erbjuder den en mild jordighet, fri från rökighet eller starka kryddsmaker.

Medan vi rekommenderar att börja brygga det vid full temperatur, är detta mogna pu erh-te också ganska lämpligt att brygga vid lägre temperaturer (80-90º), kompenserat med en längre bryggtid. Dess uthållighet är anmärkningsvärd, och smaken börjar först bli mildare efter 8 bryggningar. Samma teblad kan lätt bryggas upp till 14 gånger.

Vi lyckades bara få tag på 28 kakor av detta te, och när de är slut kommer det inte att fyllas på. Därför rekommenderar vi att du först beställer ett prov eller en enstaka kaka, och sedan lagerlägger om detta är rätt moget pu erh-te för dig.

How to make Bai Fu 'Hundred Blessings' ripe pu erh tea?

There are two methods to prepare this pu erh tea cake:

Gongfu method

Brew 5 gram with 100 ml of water at 100°C. Steep for 10 seconds for the first few infusions. Afterward, gradually increase the steeping time.

Western method

Steep 3 gram with 500 ml of water at 100 °C. Apply a brewing time of 1.5 minutes and add 1 minute for each next infusion.

A bit messy but quite good, if...

Although it sounds promising, and the fact that it is from a smaller branch of the Menghai tea manufactury heightened my expectations, it is not from high quality. The taste is quite well, a bit smoky and earthy, what I like, but from the first brewing a lot of junk is noticable and almost disturbing the harmony of the tea. This could be very good, if harvested and selected with more care, leaving out all those branches, overmatured leafparts or leafestalks. It would be maybe ok for half of the price, then this all would be about to expected. Nevertheless, it is OK and I absolutely love drinking Pu Erh so I will honor this by drinking it, which means removing all the items swimming in top carefully and adding a bit more fresh tea after every 3-4 brewings, but that may be my style only 🙏!

The taste of Tea resembles the taste of Zen/Dao. No words could possibly describe it. You have to taste in on your own to get the feeling of it. For this particular - realy unique, rare and fantastic Pu Erh tea the proper description perhaps hides in it's name : "Hundred blessings". True. Hundred blessings to your palate and spirit. As it won't be restocked, don't hesitate!
